1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using True Maple Leaf ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 14 years of age. If you are under 18, you confirm that your use of this Service is permitted by a parent or guardian.

2. Description of service

True Maple Leaf is a free, daily Canadian trivia challenge website. The Service provides:

• A daily set of 10 trivia questions about Canada, refreshed every day at midnight Eastern Time
• A leaderboard showing scores filtered by city
• A daily streak tracking system
• A shareable result card image

The Service is provided free of charge. There are no prizes, no gambling elements, and no monetary rewards. Leaderboard rankings and XP points are for entertainment and friendly competition only — they have no monetary value.

True Maple Leaf is not affiliated with the Government of Canada, any provincial government, the Canadian Football League (CFL), the National Hockey League (NHL), or any other official body.

3. Accounts and usernames

To save scores and appear on the leaderboard, you must create a free account using Google sign-in or an email magic link. No password is required.

When choosing a username, you agree that it will:

• Be no longer than 10 characters
• Not impersonate any real person, public figure, or organisation
• Not contain offensive, hateful, discriminatory, or sexually explicit language
• Not include personal contact information

We reserve the right to change or remove any username that violates these guidelines, without notice.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must not share your login with others.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to play the trivia game or manipulate leaderboard scores
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the website or its underlying infrastructure
• Create multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage on the leaderboard
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent
• Scrape or reproduce trivia questions from the Service without permission
• Engage in any activity that violates applicable Canadian federal or provincial law

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension without notice.

5. Content and intellectual property

All trivia questions, website design, logos, text, and other content on True Maple Leaf are owned by or licensed to True Maple Leaf, unless otherwise noted. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without express written permission.

The maple leaf design used as our logo is a custom stylised design and is not the official 11-point maple leaf from the National Flag of Canada. We make no claim to any government symbol or national emblem.

Trivia questions on this website are based on publicly available factual information. Facts themselves are not subject to copyright. The specific wording, structure, and presentation of questions are our original work.

By sharing your result card image, you grant True Maple Leaf a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that image for promotional purposes. You may revoke this by contacting us.

6. Accuracy disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We may update or correct questions at any time.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario and Canadian law, True Maple Leaf and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of scores, or interruption of service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed zero dollars, as the Service is provided entirely free of charge.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or suspend the Service at any time without notice.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at truemapleleaf.can@gmail.com. Upon deletion, all your personal data will be removed within 14 days.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at our discretion, including for violations of these Terms, without prior notice. Leaderboard rankings and scores accumulated are not transferable and have no value upon termination.

9. Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The updated date will be shown at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

For material changes, we will notify you via email if you have an account with us.
